Tampico
Neither authors nor historians have been able to agree on Tampico's real meaning: Place of sea dogs, or place of otters. Local historians have assumed that in ancient times, old habitants used to pronounce Tampeck, and then this would be transformed into Tan-Piceh and Tampiquetl; so eventually the word Tampico would be born. The relationship between "pik" which is dogs for huastec, and peck which is dogs for mayan; it seems to be clear that Tampico comes from Huasteco's Tam which is place, and pik which is dog.
